Staff Biography: Jamie Howard
Senior eLearning Specialist
Jamie is a senior eLearning architect and project director with over 20 years of experience implementing and managing blended eLearning training for a variety of large organizations in wide variety of industries.
Notably, Jamie served as Co-Principal Investigator and primary learning designer for the NSF Research Security Training (RST) project. He played a pivotal role in developing Module 4 of the RST training toolkit, titled “The Importance of International Scientific Collaboration.” You can explore the RST training here.
Jamie brings valuable experience from his tenure at Erlanger Health System, where he managed and coordinated the hospital's eLearning programs for five years. His responsibilities included overseeing an LMS serving over 12,000 users, leading the instructional design process for clinical and compliance training, coordinated the training for the hospitals multimillion dollar training to support the implantation of the EPIC electronic medical records project, and supporting leadership development and organizational programs.
Prior to that, he led numerous competency-based blended eLearning programs and education technology initiatives in Australia. He c organizations like Federation University, FedUni TAFE, the Adult Multicultural Education Service (AMES), NewDeal Learning, and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. These efforts focused on leveraging education technologies and delivering nationally accredited training to underserved urban, rural, and Indigenous communities across the Commonwealth.
Earlier in his career, Jamie spent more than a decade managing large-scale library, education, and information management technology projects. These initiatives included introducing digital technologies, computer labs, and internet access to organizations such as the Baker Heart Research Institute, Brimbank City Council, Emergency Management Australia, Cobb County Public Schools, the Tuscaloosa Public Library, the Cohen Brown Management Group, Mississippi State University Library, and the Madison County Public Library Service.
Jamie holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Montevallo, as well as a Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Alabama.
He currently resides in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with his wife, Catherine, and daughter, Louise.
